Dear TML Members

I wrote a few weeks ago that your Exec Committee would consider the 2021-22 season arrangements again after the government’s announcement about the lifting of all Covid restrictions on 21 June.  You will now know that the government has postponed this lifting of current restrictions for a further four weeks (until 19 July) following the current increase in cases caused by and the increased transmissibility of the Covid-19 Delta variant of concern.

The Exec met on Wednesday evening this week to begin finalising arrangements for the TML AGM Part 2.  This is the meeting where league members will elect an Executive Committee for the new season and confirm arrangements for the league’s structure and so on.  I indicated previously that this AGM Part 2 meeting was likely to be at the end of June.  Having considered the government’s announcements about a delay to the lifting of all restrictions until 19 July at the earliest, the Exec has decided to postpone the AGM meeting too.  It is likely that this meeting will be later in July now.  In the meantime, the Exec Committee will carry on with all the usual preparations for an AGM so that when the time is right we can hold this meeting quickly and move to confirm the start of the 2021-22 TML season.

Basketball England have announced that Return to Play will remain at Level 1 of their Roadmap until 19 July at the earliest (further details available on the BE website).  This mean’s that individuals and teams can continue their physical preparations and teams can continue their pre-season training and preparations, following the BE Guidance for training sessions and competitive games that is available on the BE website.

The TML Exec will continue to keep you informed via social media channels and email.  Please contact Exec officers should you have any questions at this stage.

Yours in sport
